Did you know...?

The Northern Virginia Urban League is headquartered at 1315 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. The Headquarters, known as the Freedom House, was once headquarters for the largest and most successful domestic slave trading firm in America.  It is now the home of the Freedom House Museum and opened on February 12, 2008.

The museum tells the unimaginable story of the domestic slave trade and the people who both benefited from and suffered because of it. But it also tells a story of triumph—the triumph of the human spirit to survive and thrive in even the worst of circumstances. To schedule your tour of the Freedom House Museum, please contact Historian Edith Tudae at historian@nvulypn.org. For more information on the Freedom House Museum, please click here.
