A Big Thank You!!!!
Thank you for attending our Jingle, Mix, and Mingle on December 12, 2013 at the Northern Virginia Urban League. NVULYPN teamed up with the City of Alexandria to sponsor four foster teenagers this holiday season by providing each teenager with $100.00 in the form of gift cards. Special thank you to Cindy Chambers from Tell Me Town who matched our contribution with an additional $400.00. With that addition we were able to sponsor eight foster teens. We are so grateful for your support and generosity.
Tell Me Town has recognized Northern Virginia Urban League Young Professionals Network as the receipient of their 2013 Making a Difference Award. We are honored to receive this award and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the kind citizens of Tell Me Town.
A glimpse of our event....
Wreaths Across America
Northern Virginia Urban League Young Professionals Network and Thursday Network - GWUL Young Professionals came together to give our falled heroes a memorable holiday season at the annual Wreaths Across America at Arlington National Cemetery. This year's theme was "Come with a Mission - Leave with a Memory." It was a pleasure to team up with our partners in the movement honoring those who have protected us.
The film "12 Years a Slave" has ties to the Northern Virginia Urban League's Freedom House Museum. Click here to read more.
The Northern Virginia Urban League Young Professionals Network (YPN) is an auxiliary organization of the Northern Virginia Urban League. YPN was founded in 1999 as a way to identify and develop future leaders of the community. Through a variety of programs and community service initiatives, YPN supports the mission of the Northern Virginia Urban League and fosters young professional development, social consciousness and civic involvement.
Our mission is to engage young professionals in the Urban League Movement toward social and economic empowerment.
Alongside our affiliate, YPN operates under the National Urban League's four-point empowerment agenda:
Education: "Every American child is ready for college, work and life."
Jobs: "Every American has access to jobs with a living wage and good benefits."
Housing: "Every American lives in safe, decent, affordable and energy efficient housing on fair terms."
Health: "Every American has access to quality and affordable health care solutions."
